FAQ

How do you plan and stage a photoshoot for “ordinary” life moments?

This is one of my favorite elements of being able to work with real people. Before officially booking a project together, I want to get to know YOU and why you’re interested in getting photos of a particular occasion. Whether you’re hoping to capture your Saturday morning routine with your partner, or a picnic at the park with your kiddos, I work hard to avoid overly staged photos with lots of props. While that type of photoshoot is also fun and looks great on social media, my passion is capturing your REAL life. I do this by spending time getting to know more about your story and understanding the background of the setting and context the photos will be taken in. Authenticity is my goal, so my shoots tend to be less staged, with fewer props, and with all the candid magic of YOUR beautiful story.

Do you do weddings?

I am not offering wedding shoots at this time. Don’t hesitate to contact me for some recommendations; if you live in the PNW, I can help connect you with some incredible artists I love.

Do you offer in-home sessions?

Yes! In fact, in-home sessions are my all-time favorite as I find that people are most comfortable and able to better express themselves and the moment they are sharing with their photographer.

Are you available for travel?

In short, yes, some restrictions may apply, but let’s talk first. I love traveling and getting to know you wherever you are. I’m well-equipped (passport is up to date), and have a fair amount of experience in national and international travel.

Who will show up for the photoshoot: Rachel, Kevin, or both?

Who your main photographer is depends entirely on the nature of the session and the preferences of the client; most often I (Rachel) am the main and only photographer, but we are both always up for shooting together if the situation arises. We believe that couples and family shoots may benefit from two photographers instead of one, as we’re able to provide you with varied shots, angles, and perspectives. Just let us know your preferences and needs before booking with us.

When will we receive our images?

Depending on the type and size of the project, it may take as little as 3 weeks, and as many as 6 weeks for me to select, edit, and deliver a gallery to you.

Will my photos be posted on social media?

I have my clients sign a release form before we begin a photoshoot. I reserve the right to use any images I take for promotional purposes on my web site and social media. If maintaining your images off social media is important to you, please let me know before booking a session; I value your privacy.

Will you photograph grandparents/extended family?

Yes, yes! We are quite passionate about celebrating every relationship, including the precious ones between grandparents and grandkids, god-parents, aunts, and uncles…it’s so important to capture these unique but very special relationships!

What kind of “loss” photography do you offer?

Loss of any kind can be so personally painful. It is important to acknowledge the difficult moments in life and how they are also a part of your journey. While capturing the loss of a family member, or a pregnancy loss, or even the loss of a pet may seem like a difficult thing to do, we sincerely hope that our photographs may be one small way to honor the lives involved. We want to be a part of your narrative; and we believe that even the experience of loss is valuable to your story, and something to be honored and held with compassion.
